1) Junior Workshops

Making Music Fun!

For: juniors aged 8 to 11.

With 10 spaces, these workshops will enable your child to expand their musical knowledge further.

See your child's:

  • independence,

  • confidence

  • and social skills

grow with these classes.

Our learning themes such as:

  • colours,

  • space,

  • sea,

  • seasons,

  • festivals,

  • letters

  • and numbers

help your child to develop language, numeracy and communication skills and to explore the world around them.

Our themes continue to develop as we use action songs, movement and instrument playing, whilst the children learning to play as a band and use more than one instrument during a song or piece of music.

Our themes build upon action songs such as:

  • 'Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes'

  • 'B-I-N-G-O',

  • 'Twinkle Twinkle'

  • plus many more

designed to develop movements, and to encourage their imagination and creativity.

Movements and instrumental playing support each child in learning to play as a band or ensemble or use more than one instrument during a song.

We will introduce a wider variety of instruments from the orchestral instruments families:

  • brass,

  • strings,

  • woodwind,

  • and percussion.

We will use hand drums, xylophones and guiros along with lots of other percussion instruments.

We will also explore some other musical elements such as:

  • simple musical notation,

  • dynamics,

  • rhythm,

  • tempo

  • and pitch.

Children are encouraged to think more independently about how the music makes them feel and what the music might be about.

See your child grow in confidence in playing along to music and also in developing their own rhythm.

These sessions provide a perfect opportunity to really stimulate your child's imagination.

There are opportunities for dancing along to music as we will be using lots of movement in these sessions helping young children to keep their minds and bodies fit and healthy.

What will the workshops look like?

Through carefully planned sessions we will use music as a tool, enabling us to explore a wide spectrum of experiences.

Using: visual prompts, images & PECs symbols, Makaton signing, simple colour coded notation and musical cues, we will engage in a musical journey, using 4 of the senses to expand your experiences.

Serenity Sensory Music workshops can evolve around an individual or group to best support their needs.
